Aspen bursaries are available for studies in the following fields:

  • Computer Science & Information Technology
  • Data Science
  • Engineering
  • Medicine and Surgery
  • Microbiology
  • Pharmacology (specializing in Regulatory Affairs)
  • Pharmacy
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Taxation

Funding Coverage

The bursary provides funding for the following expenses, subject to Aspen’s discretion:

  • Registration fees (up to 100%)
  • Tuition fees (up to 100%)
  • Prescribed books (up to 50%)

Funding is granted for one academic year, with renewal based on Aspenโ€™s budget availability.

Important Conditions

Recipients are required to sign a formal bursary agreement detailing the bursary’s terms and conditions.

Eligibility Criteria – Bursary for Medicine and Pharmacy

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • South African citizenship
  • Must be studying or intend to study within one of the listed fields of study.
  • Must be enrolled or accepted at one of the following accredited institutions:Traditional Universities:
    • University of Cape Town (UCT)
    • University of the Western Cape (UWC)
    • University of Stellenbosch (SU)
    • University of the Free State (UFS)
    • University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)
    • University of Pretoria (UP)
    • University of Johannesburg (UJ)
    • University of the Witwatersrand (Wits)
    • Rhodes University (RU)
    • North-West University (NWU)
    • University of Limpopo (UL)
    Comprehensive Universities:
    • University of South Africa (UNISA)
    • Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
    • University of Zululand (UniZulu)
    • University of Mpumalanga (UMP)
    • Sol Plaatje University (SPU)
    Universities of Technology:
    • Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
    • Durban University of Technology (DUT)
    • Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)
    • Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT)
    • Vaal University of Technology (VUT)
    • Central University of Technology (CUT)
    • Walter Sisulu University (WSU)
    Specialised Institutions:
    • Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU)
  • Children of Aspen South Africa employees are also eligible to apply.

The bursary is mainly aimed at undergraduate studies, however Masterโ€™s or PhD Degrees may be considered for funding. The bursary does NOT cover MBA Degrees.

Aspen Bursary 2025 Summary

Aspen invites South African students to apply for its 2025 bursary program.
