About Hessequa Local Municipality Bursary

The Hessequa Local Municipality is inviting applications for its 2025 academic year bursaries. This initiative aims to support youth residing within the Hessequa Municipal area in the Western Cape, empowering them to achieve qualifications in high-demand technical fields.

The bursary is open to students pursuing the following qualifications:

• Occupational Certificate: Automotive Motor Mechanic (SAQA ID: 118733)
• Occupational Certificate: Diesel Mechanic (SAQA ID: 117237)

Recipients of the bursary will receive a stipend to cover essential expenses, such as meals, accommodation, and transport. The bursary is awarded for 1 year of study and includes both theoretical training at an institution and practical work experience in Riversdale.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Reside within the Hessequa Municipal area in the Western Cape.
• Be aged 18 to 23 years old.
• Have completed Matric.
• Be studying or planning to study one of the listed qualifications.
• Be registered at an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
• Have a strong academic record.
• Not be receiving another bursary or NSFAS funding.
• Show a genuine commitment to uplifting the community.
• Be in financial need, unable to afford tertiary studies independently.

The bursary strongly encourages applications from students with disabilities and those from historically disadvantaged backgrounds.
