Bursaries will be awarded for the following qualifications:

  • Civil Engineering (National Diploma)
  • Community Water Services and Sanitation (BSc)
  • Disaster Management (Degree/National Diploma)
  • Environmental and Water Science (BSc)
  • Geographic Information System (Degree/National Diploma)
  • Graphic Art/Design (Degree/National Diploma)
  • Marine Engineering (National Diploma)
  • Mechanical Engineering (Degree/National Diploma)
  • Town/Urban and Regional Planning (Degree/National Diploma)
  • Water and Science Technology (National Diploma)
  • Water Resource Management (BSc)

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  1. Be a South African citizen.
  2. Reside within the Alfred Nzo jurisdiction area (Eastern Cape Province).
  3. Be between the ages of 16 and 35.
  4. Be currently in Matric (2024) or have already completed Matric.
  5. Intend to study in one of the listed fields of study in 2025.
  6. Plan to study at a recognised tertiary institution in South Africa.
  7. Demonstrate a strong academic record.
  8. Be in financial need.

Preference will be given to:

  • Students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Bursary Conditions

Successful applicants will be required to enter into a contractual agreement with the Alfred Nzo District Municipality. This agreement will outline the terms and conditions of the bursary, including provisions for repayment under certain circumstances.
