About CRET Bursary
The Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) is inviting applications for its bursary program for the 2025 academic year. The CRET bursary provides comprehensive funding and mentorship to help students unlock their potential and become future leaders.
Fields of Study
Bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in the following areas:
- Commerce and Finance
- Education
- Engineering
- Sciences (excluding MBChB)
- Technology
- Scarce or Critical Skills Training, including:
- Boiler Making
- Welding
- Plumbing
- Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
- Renewable Energy
- Waste Management
- Green Technology
- Entrepreneurship
Bursary Benefits
The bursary covers:
- Tuition fees
- Textbooks and study materials
- Accommodation and meals
- Monthly living allowance
- Transport (if required)
Additionally, bursary recipients will be part of a mentorship and developmental program, which includes psychometric evaluations and formal interviews during the assessment process.
Eligibility Criteria – Bursary for different fields
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
- Aged 16 to 27 years old.
- Be in Grade 12 (Matric) or have completed Matric.
- Intend to pursue or currently be studying towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the eligible fields.
- Be enrolled or applying to an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa (universities, TVET colleges, or recognized learning institutions).
- Financial need with a total household income of not more than R650,000 per annum.
