The Road Accident Fund (RAF) invites unemployed graduates to apply for the Medical Management Internship Programme for the 2024/2025 academic year. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for young graduates to gain valuable work experience in the medical management field.

Purpose of the Internship

The RAF is committed to youth skills development by offering graduates who have completed relevant National Diploma/B Degree programs the chance to gain practical work experience. The internship is open to unemployed graduates aged between 18 and 23 and will run for a period of eighteen (18) months. Interns will be based in the Medical Management Department in Johannesburg.

Work-Based Exposure

Interns may gain experience in the following areas:

  • Conducting medical assessments and compiling injury assessment reports
  • Escalating complex cases for multi-disciplinary review and adjudication
  • Maintaining documentation and regularly updating the exception handling process
  • Conducting assessments and bill reviews on submitted claims, focusing on the appropriate level of care, length of stay, and quality of care
  • Handling and responding to correspondence
  • Reporting on emerging risks
  • Providing ad hoc reports on process improvement initiatives
  • Receiving complaints and liaising with relevant stakeholders
  • Following up and providing feedback to all stakeholders to keep them updated on the status of queries
  • Responding to queries within predefined turnaround times

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must provide the following:

  • Certified Grade 12/NQF 4 level certificate
  • Certified copy of National Diploma/B Degree/Advanced Diploma in Health Science or a medical-related qualification
  • Certified copy of ID
  • Certified copy of academic transcript (applications without transcripts will be eliminated)
  • CV and motivational letter
