Kathu Solar Park Bursary
Kathu Solar Park invites bursary applications for 2025 from prospective and current students at accredited South African institutions of higher learning (FETCs, Universities of Technology and Universities). Applicants must reside in the JTG District and must be South African citizens.
Who can apply
Only applications from present students at South African public tertiary institutions of higher learning, or students who will commence with their study programme in 2025, who live in Kathu will be considered.
Bursary details
The value of the bursary will be determined on an individual basis and may be used to cover the following study-related cost items:
- Institution tuition fees, registration fees and examination fees
- Accommodation in an institution residence or equivalent
- Meals
- Learning materials (textbooks, stationary, etc.)

Requirements
Bursary allocations made are limited by the budget availability for a particular year. The main criteria used in the selection of successful applicants to the Kathu Solar Park bursary are as follows.
- Academic excellence – Selection will be done on the basis of Grade 12 (final or mid-year) results and/or tertiary academic record.
- Financial need: Applicants must be able to demonstrate that the combined family income (gross) does not exceed R600,000 p/a.
- Eligible institutions: Bursaries are available for public and accredited private tertiary institutions.
- In instances where all applicants display academic excellence, preference will be given to the applicant with the greatest financial need. Only applications for full-time study will be considered.
