Mihlali Ndamase, 24, Johannesburg’s most loved Social media influencer took to Twitter at 3am a tweet about underage teenage girls and children dating older men in their 20s and 30s and has now landed herself in hot water with “Black Twitter”. On her tweet she mentions that she did not see anything wrong and still does not see anything wrong about teenage girls aged under 18, dating older men between 20-30 years old.
In another subsequent tweet, she had tweeted in isiXhosa: “Andiboninto ewrongo m’na” – which asserts, I do not see anything wrong about it.
In South African law, it is a criminal offense for men over the age of 18 to have sexual relations with children under the age of 16. Mihlali, having agreed that this act is fine for her has been accused of encouraging pedophilia in some quarters for her views, and has even been compared to American singer Robert Kelly who was arrested last year for molestation of children underage.
As South Africans commemorated Freedom Day under strict Level 5 lockdown regulations, Mihlali was and still is a top trending discussion on Twitter, with some condemning her views, while others defend her.
Here’s what some of are of our tweeps had to say.
