About TAFSA:

The Intra-Africa Mobility for Training Agribusiness and Food Systems Scientists for African Agriculture (TAFSA) is a scholarship program funded by the European Union (EU). It is implemented by five African universities: Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique), Gulu University (Uganda), Makerere University (Uganda), University of Abomey-Calavi (Benin), and University of Pretoria (South Africa). TAFSA aims to enhance collaboration among agricultural universities across Africa while training professionals skilled in improving food systems and agribusiness to address issues such as food insecurity, malnutrition, poverty, and unemployment.

Target Groups and Eligibility – Bursary scholarship

  • Target Group I (TG-I): Current or former students of TAFSA consortium universities.
  • Target Group II (TG-II): Students from other African countries, with priority given to conflict-affected or disadvantaged nations, including Burundi, Cameroon, Liberia, Mali, and Sierra Leone.

To apply, you must:

  1. Be enrolled in a recognized Master’s or PhD program in relevant fields.
  2. Apply to a host institution outside your home country.
  3. Meet the language requirements for instruction.

Application Process -Bursary scholarship

Submit your application to tafsa21@gmail.com, copying 3ngiva@gmail.com. Include:

  • Academic transcripts (signed and stamped).
  • Proof of enrollment.
  • Recommendation letter from your department head.
  • Statement of motivation.
  • Detailed work plan signed by your research supervisor.
  • Invitation letter from the host institution.
  • Passport or ID copy.
  • CV (for PhD students).

Scholarship Package

TAFSA offers a full-board scholarship that includes a monthly stipend, health insurance, and travel expenses. Selected scholars are expected to:

  • Sign a learning agreement at the host institution.
  • Attend courses and participate in cultural activities.
  • Submit monthly progress reports.
