About Shoprite Bursary
Shoprite is currently accepting applications for the 2025 academic year bursaries.
The Shoprite Bursary aims to attract and fund talented Chartered Accounting students to become part of the Company’s Finance team after the completion of their studies. The Shoprite SAICA Trainee Accountant Programme provides trainees with exposure to the commerce industry across the business, academic support and is mentored by our management team to ensure that we develop well-rounded CAs.
During the three-year Shoprite SAICA Trainee Accountant Programme, trainees receive the opportunity to rotate throughout the business and learn through on the job training to ensure that they receive the best technical exposure to develop the prescribed SAICA learning outcomes in preparation for the SAICA APC exam.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must NOT be older than 27 years old
- You must have completed Matric
- You must be studying towards either of these qualifications: BCom Accounting, BAcc (CA stream) degree
- You must be in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of study or PGDA / CTA
- You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65%
- You must have achieved a minimum result of 65% for Accounting, Auditing and Taxation subjects
- You must be studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution within South Africa

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate (certified copy)
- Full tertiary academic record, including most recent results (on institutions letterhead)
