#ReebokMustFall – Reebok Drops AKA

South African rapper, songwriter, record producer, singer and entrepreneur, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, known professionally as AKA took to socials this morning and responded to a fans tweet which who was showing appreciation to the collaboration he and Reebok had last year.

“Those air forces are fire but the SNEAKA is special because it represents one of our own. And it’s more comfortable than any pair of air forces that I own.” Renzo said.

AKA responded to this tweet saying “Can you believe they didn’t pay me a single cent for this? … not one cent.”

He responded to a widespread of reactions from Tweeps who believed that he was making money from the sneakers and went on to tell the story of how Reebok had made him settle for this deal, and because it was his passion to make sneakers he settled for the deal just for the ‘culture’.

Kiernan explains his frustrations on this and revealed there wasn’t even a contract written up for this deal and says Reebok straight up used him to bring the brand “back from the dead”.

Although Reebok did not pay for any work that AKA did with them he says that he does not regret working with them.

Tweeps didn’t take the matter lightly and soon after the news broke made a new hashtag #ReebokMustFall and sharing their thoughts on the matter.
